Heaven & Hell: Dark night on the Prairie. Nokia
Live,
Description
First of all the tapers notes:
Taper notes: Pretty good recording of a pretty nice show -- no real
surprises judging by previous setlists from the tour.
Figured the show would be loud, so I "pre-set guessed" the recording
level beforehand rather than just going with the mic-sensitivity
setting, kinda hoping it would be good enough. Seems to have worked. It still a bit muddy in spots, but
it's a true reflection of what I was hearing and quite in-your-face. You'll hear some buzzing once in a while, but
that was coming from Tony Iommi's guitar, not the
source. There was very little interference from the crowd around me, so I was
quite pleased with the result. Glad to see RJD singing with the Sab boys again, my first time to see them together since
1981.
Joeyjay notes: Mike did a pretty fair job, considering it was the first
time he took away the safety blanket of "auto recording level" to
make sure his rigging didn't get blown out. I did have to de-hiss it a bit
because of the lowered setting, and it's still got some muddy low end, but I'd
say this is a worthy tour document from the Dallas-area stop. You might need to
crank
it up. Enjoy. On with the
show ...
Well
of course everybody is pretty excited with their own recordings but the fact is
the recording is not so good, is average, you can hear distortions here and
there, and sounds hollow, far and the volume is pretty low.
