Iron Maiden: Clarkston 2010. DTE Energy Music Theater, Clarkston, USA. 17.07.10
Clarkston is very close to Detroit, the audio is amazing but the recording is plagued with mistakes: The ghost of the navigator only lasts 4:50 and is with at least 3 jumps during the song, then Wrathchild wasnít recorded and returns in an abrupt way on the last 3 minutes of El Dorado entering in the chorus before the solos, Blood brothers has a one second gap very early on the song, Brave new world only lasts 1 minute 30 seconds, and the show returns for last 3 minutes of Fear of the dark, Hallowed be thy name has one second gap, so in general is a disaster, but here are taperís notes to explain the whole situation.
TAPER'S NOTES: I was a little paranoid taping because my recorder failed to write the Fear Factory show in LA I went to a couple weeks ago and I never figured out the problem. I was close to security and it was daylight most of the time so I couldn't keep an eye on my recorder that much.
Surprisingly, I didn't know any songs by Iron Maiden so here is my best shot, based on previous show setlists and youtube videos...
It stopped once, which I noticed during "El Dorado" but it DID write most of what it redorded.
It wrote up through most of "Ghost Of The Navigator". The next song "Wrathchild" was not recorded.
Another time during "Brave New World" the battery was about to die but I had another one to switch out with. The battery should have lasted the whole show. It was only out for about 30 seconds, yet there is a several minute gap in the recording. The recorder has been acting too glitchy to risk losing another show so I am ordering another one. Although I taped Sarah McLachlan a few days later and Apocalyptica a few days earlier without incident.
Location: Pavilion left center section, last row (handicapped section) which is actually not in the pavilion, but on the cement walkway that separates it from the lawn section. This may be the worst spot to tape because I was a few seats away from security and a lot of drunk dudes walk past you and some even yell lyrics at you as they pass. Despite my skepticism at the time, this recording turned out much better than I expected.
