Black Sabbath: The Ray Gillen years. San Antonio, USA. 18.04.86 and Studio session 1987
Who was Ray Gillen and why his name never appeared in a Black Sabbath album, well at that moment he was a totally unknown, who replaced Glen Hughes (Ex-Trapeze and Ex- Deep purple) when the last one couldn’t do Seventh star live, so Ray stayed enough to be the singer during the sessions of The eternal idol, unfortunately for Black Sabbath he decided to go away from them, he was in fact a really superior singer compared with Tony Martin, He was similar to him but with more power and personality, at the end Ray formed Badlands with Jake E. lee (Ex- Ozzy Osbourne) and to know what happened to him after that, well after 2 albums and one declination of being part of Blue Murder he died of AIDS some years ago.
Conclusion if you think The eternal idol could be a great album but the problem was the singer, then you need this one. The sound is really good but with some clicks between and in the live songs. Symptom of the universe is just the intro of the same and Neon Knights doesn’t appear on the covers but is included on the show.
